    OK,

Here’s what I have and here’s what I wanna do:

I have a show I’m cutting that was shot on a P2 camera. I’m going to be cutting 720p on Final cut pro on my Intel Mac Pro 3.0Ghz w/ 5 GB of ram. The source material will of course be 16:9.

I understand that the Intensity pro card allows me to view and monitor my FCP timeline digitally on an HDTV via HDMI. But say I’m using the analog component out to a regular 4:3 standard def television set. What happens to the 16:9 picture? Is there an automatic scan conversion/center cut 4:3 image? OR do you end up with a squeezed 16:9 image? OR do you end up with a 16:9 letterboxed image? OR is it someting else altogether?

Really confused over something that is probably so simple. Any info would really influence my decision and help me figure out my budget.

    Dennis

    Dennis,
You will probaly end up with a squeezed 16.9 image. Please contact me at 714-536-7016 or at johng@maxxdigital.com if you have more questions.

looking in my Intensity System Prefs,

the “Output Processing” pulldown has these 2 HD to SD options:

    HD to SD Letterbox 16:9
    HD to SD anamorphic

    cheers,
    nick
