I’ve gotten conflicting information on this from vendors so I am hoping someone here can answer these questions.

Does the Intensity Pro or Decklink HD Extreme only output the video from PPro CS3 when using a BMD project settings?

I want to capture using firewire. Can I still do this when a BMD project setting is chosen?

I really only plan to use the card to get a clear NTSC signal to my monitor. Besides being able to see the timeline on a monitor, would either of these cards add anything extra — ie added realtime?

And finally – a vendor who carries BMD said flat out that the Intensity pro card is nothing but junk. Can anybody out there provide a second – third or fourth opinion?

Sorry for all the questions but the nearest place to actually see one of these in action is over 200 miles away and I’d rather hear from actual users.

    Thanks

    Hi Michael,

[Michael Mohr] “Does the Intensity Pro or Decklink HD Extreme only output the video from PPro CS3 when using a BMD project settings?”

Yes, you’ll need to use our project setup.

[Michael Mohr] “I want to capture using firewire. Can I still do this when a BMD project setting is chosen?”

You’ll need to use the DV setups provided by Premiere Pro, then switch to using our project setting to monitor the clips.

Nope, we don’t accelerate anything. Everything is processor based.

[Michael Mohr] “And finally – a vendor who carries BMD said flat out that the Intensity pro card is nothing but junk. Can anybody out there provide a second – third or fourth opinion?”

Interesting. Could you contact us about this or ask the vendor to contact us to know what he’s unhappy about?

    Kristian,

Thanks for the answers, it has really helped. I think I know what I would have to do regarding the video output. I would be happy to contact someone regarding this particular vendor. I just don’t know where to call or email. I tried emailing BMD regarding these questions (just not the vendor one) about a week ago and never recieved a reply.

    Hi Michael,

We’ve checked and don’t see your name in our emails. Could you resend to support[at]blackmagic-design.com and include a link to this thread so that we can trace it back? Thanks.

    Kristian,

I spoke with one of BMD’s sales reps yesterday and got the information I needed and also relayed the vendor information to him. Thanks for your help with everything else.

    Mike
