Proper way to capture 24PA via SDI
Posted by Viktor David on September 14, 2007 at 8:35 pmHi, we have SDI only (no firewire) DVCPRO HD deck. What is the proper way to capture 24PA DV50 footage via SDI. We have Blackmagic HD installed in our G5, and using FCP5.04. Thanks,
Vic.

September 14, 2007 at 11:06 pmIf I’m not mistaken you use the easy setup/capture setting that has “varicam” in it. 720P.
I think you can capture it uncompressed or as DVCPro-HD, then you use the pulldown tool from panasonic to remove the extra frames.

September 15, 2007 at 1:05 amThank you,We are capturing DVCPRO50 footage that was shot onto SDX900. We have an AJHD150 deck, which only has SDI or SDHDI out and 60 hrs of DVCPRO50 footage. Just need to know proper way to capture it into our G5 via Blackmagic HD. All the settings and workflow for 24P Advanced.
Thanks in advance.

October 1, 2007 at 5:46 amHi,
From my understanding, the deck will apply the correct pulldown and send out a 29.97 fps signal when you play back your 24PA tape in the deck. You then simply use the “Blackmagic – NTSC” easy setup to capture.
