“After Effects error: RAM Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback.”

    Mac G5, Dual 1.8, 2 Gig RAM, OSX 10.3.6, AE 6.5

I have noticed on this project, refresh rates getting longer (even going black for a second before refreshing) and now this error message. I don’t really want to trash my prefs if I don’t have to. I’ve purged all caches, and restarted the program and the box, but to no avail. Any ideas?

    thanks

Your RAM preview in point and out point are the same. Go to the first frame of your comp and press “B”. Then go to the last point in your comp and press “N”. Try it again & you shouldn’t have the error anymore.

you would think so, as I did. But the preview area is the whole comp (15 secs)

Hmm…my only recommendation is to restart and reselect your preview area. If that’s not working, it’s a strange bug in the program that I’ve never encountered before.

thanks for the feedback. I’ve posted the message with adobe forum as well as another AE forum, we’ll see what I get. Right now I’m rendering a file from that project and will re-adjust the work area again, and try to reduce the project as well, maybe there is a corrupt file I’m unaware of?

    thanks again

There is a solution to that error, but I can’t remember it. Search the COW — that’s where I saw it.

    Unless I’m going mad …
