6.2 crashes G5
Posted by Rory Hinds on May 26, 2007 at 6:42 pmI’ve discovered the 6.2 drivers are crashing my G5.
I’m using FCS2 and was getting continuous crashes after installing 6.2
Having gone back to 6.1 seems to have sorted the problem out.
Head up.

We tested the DeckLink 6.2 drivers on both PCI-X and PCIe versions of the PowerMac G5 and it worked fine. Can you provide some more specifics about your problem, eg which model of G5, which model of DeckLink card, which versions of Mac OS X and QuickTime are you using and most importantly, when does the problem occur? Does it occur when you start up your Mac? Does it occur as you start FCP6 or only after you perform some action in FCP6? Does it occur in any other video application such as After Effects of Blackmagic Deck Control?

Hope you are well and business is good.
Thanks for your response.
I’m using a Dual 2Ghz G5, 4Gb RAM with ATI X800 and Decklink HD card.
With latest QT and OS and FCS2.The problem happens when I’m editing or just playing a sequence. The footage will freeze but the play head continues and you can still hear the audio. Opening the clip in the viewer returns it to normal only for it to happen again. Then after a few of these the screen goes completely wide displaying a brown pattern and all I can do is reset the machine.
I noticed this after installing 6.2 and have since gone back to 6.1 and have not experienced this problem, which would lead me to believe 6.2 is bad.
Hope you guys can sort this and lead the way again.
Kind regards
