  going from sp to intensity pro…

  Hi all,

  just a short wuestion:
  i upgraded to a new intel machine and had to realize that my old SP
  doesn’t work any more…

  so i’m looking for a cheap solution – the intensity pro

  are there any drawbacks compared to the SP i should know
  besides no rs422???

  mainly i work with SD Digibeta files or HDV from my FX1
  (no hdmi output;-( ) , so will there be any performance
  drawbacks like no 3way color corrector etc ???

  Hi Stefan,

  If you need to connect to a Betacam SP deck, a Digitbeta deck and the analog outputs of your HDV camera, then the DeckLink HD Extreme card would be the best option for you.

  If you don’t need to connect to Betacam SP and Digitbeta decks, then the Intensity Pro would be the right card for you.

  To what other hardware did you used to connect your DeckLink SP card, ie what monitors or decks? How did you acquire Digibeta files given that the DeckLink SP doesn’t capture from a Digibeta?

  Hi,

  mine is the second station – files from digibeta
  are being captured at the first station…

  i’d go for a bigger card, but as my budget is
  limited i have to start with the intensity pro…

  but i can capture from digi and beta, but
  only analog and without TC and Machine control,
  right?? Even HD??

  if so, that’s pretty amazing for this amount of money…

  Hi Stefan,

  Sorry I missed your reply. While you could easily capture analog video from the Digibeta and the Betacam SP using the Intensity Pro, audio will be a little trickier as the decks are outputting balanced professional level audio whereas the Intensity is capturing unbalanced HiFi audio. If you already have a mixer, then you should be able to adjust this so it works fine. If you don’t have a mixer, then you would need a device such as the Rolls MB15 ProMatch which costs around US$70.

  The Intensity Pro will capture directly from the analog video and audio outputs from your HDR-FX1 camera as it uses unbalance HiFi audio so no modifications are necessary.
