I have a Multibridge HD (the first model of the family, with SDI I/O) that works with a Decklink HD card in a PowerMac G5 dual 2GHz. As I am planning to get a MacPro, I have some questions about how to make this transition.

    1. Would it be better to sell the Multibridge HD and the Decklink HD and have the Decklink Extreme as a replacement? (I hate these tether cables!) Or it would be better to keep the Multibridge HD as a still useful standalone multiformat converter/breakout box?

    2. If I keep the Multibridge HD, which card is most appropriated to use with it in the new machine? Unfortunatelly BM descontinued the inexpensive Decklink HD. As Decklink Extreme has the connections that Multibridge HD already offers, it seems like this card it is not a reasonable option. I guess the best card for me now would be Decklink HD Pro, am I correct?

    3. Is Multibridge HD compatible with the new drivers for the new Multibridge family, and will be continue supported by BlackMagic software? (this is for you, Luke, or any other BM guy)

    Thanks for any opinions!

    Hi Joao,

Can you please let me know to what hardware you may connect so I can suggest the best solution for you? To what kind of cameras, monitors, decks and other hardware are you connecting? Do you use the AES/EBU breakout on the Multibridge HD and will you need this in the future?

    Regards,

Thanks for the attention! I have just the basics here. For now I am using a Betacam SP UVW-1800 deck, a Sony PVM-14M4U monitor, a Sony DSR-11 DV/DVCAM deck, and a Horita box CSG-50. But, from time to time, when I need, I get a rented Digibeta or HD deck.
