1080 30P with a Decklink
Posted by Craig Service on March 19, 2007 at 4:40 pmHi – I am capturing footage shot on a Sony HDW-F900 in 1080 30P. I would like to edit (FCP 5.1) in DVCPro HD but I do not see a preset for 30P. Am I missing it or do you have a suggestion for a similar workflow? I’m editing on a dual 2 gig G5 with a 4 disk SATA array.
Thanks,

March 19, 2007 at 4:43 pmI clicked “show all” to see all of the easy setups and found Apple’s DCVPRO HD – 1080p30.
Will this work well with the Decklink?
Thanks again,

March 19, 2007 at 9:07 pmTried using Apple’s easy setup but it is for DVCPRO HD.
I don’t see 1080p30 listed on the specs for the Decklink HD Pro, PCI-X. Am I out of luck for capturing these tapes?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

March 19, 2007 at 11:34 pmDuplicate the 1080p/23.98 capture preset…. go into Edit. Change FPS to 29.97/30. I bet it’ll work just fine.

March 20, 2007 at 1:42 amI copied the preset but don’t see a way to change the frame rate.
Also tried to copy/modify the DVCPRO HD 1080p30 preset but can’t change the fact that it is looking for firewire input.
Can’t think of a solution short of having the source tapes converted from 30p to 60i.
Any more ideas? -

November 10, 2008 at 8:59 pmDid you ever figure this out?
I’m going through the same thing. I am about to rent a deck to capture the 1080 30p footage I have on HDcam tapes to edit into the DVCPRO HD 720p footage I have.
Maybe you can spare me a big headache!
