I have a 2.66 Quad with 8GB installed RAM. Decklink Extreme PCI Express in slot 4. Fibre Channel card in slot 3, ATI Radeon 1900 in slot 1.

System works fine with only 1 2GB stick in. Adding more RAM causes the following problems when RAM utilization EXCEEDS 2 GB:

-No issues if FCPro video out is turned off (or not to Decklink)
-Open Final Cut project, then open for example an After Effects or Live Type or Motion project and crank up a project and RAM previews that brings the UTILIZED RAM above the 2GB mark. Return to FCP project, can always scrub the timeline with the mouse but hitting “p” “spacebar” or clicking play button causes immediate freeze or panic.
    -This scenario is fully repeatable.
-All RAM sticks have been moved around, rotated, tested, etc.

Again, the interesting thing is I can have 4,6,8 GB installed and do not encounter a problem until I utilize over 2 GB and the crash consistently happens when hitting play on Final Cut. Also, the crashes do not occur if Final Cuts video out to Decklink is turned off.

I have tried 5.7 to 5.9 of the Decklink Drivers

    Thanks

This from the read me in the Decklink 5.9 installer: “Currently all DeckLink standard definition cards are limited to 3 GB of memory, however this will be updated in a forthcoming software update.” It’s weird because I never had a problem on my G5 system with 4GB of RAM.

I heard rumor of that and have looked hard in the decklink materials but never found that statement.

-Is this true for Mac too or only Windows.
-Does the same rule apply to the HD Decklink Extreme.
-If it will be fixed in future drivers is that “soon” or just “sometime”. I need to be up & running “soon”.

Sorry to ask so many questions but I have not been able locate this information in the Decklink materials.

    Hi,

Currently, all our PCIe HD products will support more than 3 GB of RAM. These products are:

    1) DeckLink HD Extreme
    2) Multibridge Pro
    3) Multibridge Extreme
    4) DeckLink HD Pro PCIe

The other products do not support more than 3 GB of RAM for now.

    regards

Thanks for the response. I have 6 FinalCut installations and am migrating them all to the Intel. I have the SD cards in all of them. Is a fix coming anytime soon or do I just need to plan on migrating the SD cards to HD?
