in the decklink departement of the MAC system preferences there is the highligted function “HDTV Up / Down Converter”. You can choose to convert HD into SD Letterbox or SD Anamorphic 16:9. This function would be very useful for monitoring the HDV timeline (FCP) on a PAL SD-Monitor. But it works only on single fields when you stop, not running in real time. Has somebody experience about this? Is there any way to make it work? Does it depend on processor speed or so? Is it working in NTSC?
    I’m working in PAL / Decklink extreme (SD) / Powermac G5 Dual 2GHz / FCP 5.
    Thank you for suggestions!

    Hi,

This should work. Make sure you’re using the HDV presets we provide in Final Cut Pro’s easy setup. You should leave the View > Video Display option to the default HD output and not switch it to an SD device.
