Decklink and Mac Pro machine controll issue
I’m running a Mac Pro, FCP with all updated software and BM drivers 5.7.2. Everytime I start the computer and run FCP, RS-422 machine control fails. If I use Blackmagic Deck Control the deck is controlled but it says no communication. If I unload BM drivers, restart and reload the drivers it comes back until I restart the computer. Any ideas?

I posted this a week or so ago and got no response. The BM card appears to be hanging up. If you shut down the Mac and unplug it for a few seconds and restart it should work.

Never seen that problem before.
Make sure to repair the disk permissions, and may be trash the FCP Preferences.

Make sure the BM card is connected to your deck and the deck is switched on on start up – If the card doesnt see the deck the 422 wont work!

There’s a definite issue here. It’s not a loose cable or whether the machine is turned on or not. You can do anything you want and it won’t work except turn the power off and then unplug the Mac and start it back up. This issue is with a 3ghz Mac Pro in OSX and an HD Pro card. I have not seen it on a regular G5 or anything else. I had a similar issue with a Kona once and the thing is is the PCI slots still get power even when the G5 is off. By unplugging it you are doing a true reset of the card. It works perfectly after that.

I meant the VT Deck – I had ecxactly the same problem with an HD Pro card and a Sony HDCAM M2000p VTR – I found that If the Computer and the card started up before the deck then there was no 422 control – Start the deck first then the mac and presto – it works evey time – I think it has something to do with a stable signal going into the Card on start up.
