  • able to change “No Video Input” splash screen?

is there any way to change the “splash screen” from “No Video Input” with the BM logo, to just a plain old black screen? only because i have captured a bunch of VHS tape, and i get several of those “splash screens” (i suppose when the tape looses sync) especially at cut points on the tape, and they are rather annoying. i’ve been trying to edit most of them out, or just cover them with a black frame, but if i could just re-capture with a different splash screen then i would just leave them black…

    Hi Mortimer

“No Video input” is generally seen when you loose signal when capturing a Deck has been disconnected etc. In this case you would edit out these in the NLE.

If you are seeing “No Video input” when printing to tape the issue maybe else where.
Please can you outline your workflow as to when these messages are displayed.

Include your system configuration, decklink location and model and driver versions you are using.

Either email – pcsupport@blackmagic-design.com or post response to the cow.

    Thank you.

thanks Andrew, the splash screen is being recorded during capture of VHS material (just transferring old home movies to DVD) and seems to happen most frequently at cut points on the tape.

i have my VHS deck outputting it’s video signal into the “composite in” on my Beta deck, and then into my Mac via the Decklink cables. “decklink location”? not sure what you mean by that. model is Decklink SP, and BM Deck Control is version 5.1, Framelink 1.0, and LiveKey 5.1.

is there a way to change this “splash screen” to solid black?

and here below is an answer to this problem from last year, i just did a search and dug it up again. just wondering if there is any other answer from BlackMagic on this? i realize starting with VHS is not the most stable signal in the world, but is there any other way around this with the equipment i have?

    thanks…

I don’t think you need be so apologetic. I am having exactly the same problem using a professional Beta SP deck.It captures with dropped frames inserting a “No Video Input Blackmagic Design” screen, again most of them happen when the camera was physically moving. It has nothing to do with lost sync or low video levels as i watched my source tapes on a vectorscope when i RENTED an alternative edit suite to do my editing (This suite had no problems capturing the footage). Fix the problem don’t change it!
My solution to the Declink problem is a cheap dv card with an S-Video input & no Audio, Crashing, Dropped Frame, Reinstall every time i reboot, Losing all my clients setbacks.

You are no bonehead, unless like me you have used your head against the wall to try and forget the money and time you have lost.
