Posted by Eyeperfect on October 21, 2006 at 2:16 pmHi,
I created a free to use DVD player based on the Decklink Video cards and NVIDIA forceware video decoders. If your are interested please try it out and let me know how it goes.

October 23, 2006 at 3:01 pmHi,
this is a beautiful utility. i’ll do test it and report.
You say control of avid composer. can you clarify.can you add this support. video mirroring and full screen on decklink
i presently use avid dv xpress on the same system and i had to install a nvidia 6600 with tv out to work with avid dv. as with 6600 i can enable video mirror on secondry device as full screen video. this way i get full screen tv out from my avid dv
thanks

October 23, 2006 at 6:03 pmHow to get a DVD in an AVID?
A DVD disk isn’t a suitable medium to control by RS422 sony protocol. Avid controlling a DVD DISK doesn’t work very well. Soo I reversed the logic. My application controls AVID (premiere also).
a) Someone marks in and out points with eyeperfectlogger. These are bookmarks.
b) The disk is played by eyeperfectserver. Eyeperfectserver uses a decklink card to create video. This can be digital or analoge. It depends on the video card.
c) Eyeperfectclient controls eyeperfectserver and Avid. Eyeperfectserver gets controlled over the network. Avid gets controlled by eyeperfectclient by sending keys strokes to the capturetool. f4= start capture, f1=mark in for subclip, f2=mark out for subclip and esc stop capturing. Here is an animation https://users.skynet.be/eyeperfect/capturesource.htm
If someone wants to try this workflow please let me know.

October 27, 2006 at 10:30 pmWow, this looks awesome!
Any possibility of porrting this over to Mac OS X? (or releasing the sourcecode so a motivated OSX coder could port it for you?)

October 28, 2006 at 8:36 amHi Mel,
EyeperfectServer is completely written in directshow. Directshow is a part of directx and only exists on the microsoft windows platform. Porting it to Mac OSX would mean starting al over again in the quictime API. Doing the same in OSX I don’t know how. Do you?
I was able to run EyeperfectClient from fedora linux using wine. I guess something like wine also exist on Mac because OSX is a UNIX like.
If someone wants to control EyeperfectServer over the network I will give him the source code of EyeperfectClient. So he will know what strings to send. And the strings to receive.
