I’m experimenting with the Plexus plugin and thought it could be cool to have it track to some footage of a person’s face. Plexus works OBJ files and layer paths. Is there a way to make a layer mask automatically based off luminance or shadows instead of key framing a path frame by frame?

basically, adjust with curves, isolate the 50% greys, use those greys, make layer mask with that 50% grey.

You want to use a track matte [link].

you can make masks with what they suggested but they wont have any temporal/spatial relation(between frames), so you can’t have plexus animated.

Theres no easy way to do that.
