    Hi all!

I have a mystery for all of you. Last week I put a 45 minute show to tape. Turns out I had missed to CC one clip, I was in a bit of a rush. Well, no big deal, I fixed it and then did a insert on the master and I missed with one frame. Upon closer examination I noticed something strange. The first frame on the tape is on the correct place and is in sync with my sequence. But, the other 2 parts of the show are both 1 frame off sync even though the sequence is correct and it was all laid down at the same time.

    Now, anyone got ideas?

    My setup is:
    SW
    FCP 5.1.2
    QT 7.1.3
    OS 10.4.8
    Decklink 5.7.1

    HW
    Dual 2Ghz G5
    4.5 GB ram
    Decklink Pro Single Link
1.3 TB Serial-ATA raid (Fusion 500P enclosure, Tempo 4XP PCI-card, 5 Maxtor Maxline pro III drives)

    Hi,

That’s strange. In what format are you working? Which Blackmagic Easy Setup had you chosen?

    Regards,

    Hi Luke!

I have chosen the Uncompressed 8 bit pal easy setup. So, I’m working in 8 bit uncompressed.

We have found the same issues. There is occasionally a one frame delay on output to DIgital Betacam.
The only solution we’ve had success with is to keep trying until it eventually gets it. This was never a problem before. Only since 5.7 drivers. We are outputting Blackmagic DV.

    Hi,
this seems to be an old problem with decklink.
my temp solution was to always reboot the system just before i am about to master to tape a long format programme. and after booting launching the application and straight away master.
i used to get 2-3 frames audio drop out somewhere generally around 4-8 min and the whole episode will go out of sync. I have seen this problem with many users mac and pc. if you watch your master carefully you will know when this happens. Video wise mt entire timeline was always correct it was only the audio which used to drop by 2-3 frames.

there were some posts of mine regarding this last year oct-nov-dec. you can search the arcive. But i could not get a solution.

i no longer do long form of work in my system. so i dont know weather the problem is still there or not.

    good luck

Never had a sync problem. I do always reboot as it makes a massive difference as to what has to be rendered before playout to tape. Even making sure that all windows bar the browser and the edit to tape window are closed makes a huge difference. This problem has occurred now on two different systems both with FCP 5.1.1 and 5.1.2.
However I haven’t yet tried it with the new Decklink drivers (5.7.2) don’t know if there was anything in there to address this problem.

    hi,
the best i can advise for now, is reboot after all your renders and just as You are about to master to Tape, reboot. then straight away master.
