MULTIBRIDGE EXTREME CAPTURE PROBLEMS
G5 QUAD 2.5 Ghz 4GBRAM FCP 5.0.2 OSX.4 MULTIBRIDGE EXTREME
PROBLEM: When trying to digitize either through FCP or deck control the “NO VIDEO INPUT” sign flashes intermittently with the video signal- (almost as if it’s confused).
Using analog video inputs, tried both component and single- with same results
Tried various decks- DSR 40p, UVW- 1800p and JVC HD BR 50 all the same problem
Using RS-422- T/C comes through fine, Controls deck fine. Video output (monitoring) fine.
Installed latest firmware.
Any help will be greatly appreciated -

How’s the SDI Inputs?
Can you output via analog back to tape?
You might update FCP as well.
I’ve got the same setup. It’s a great piece of hardware.

Haven’t tried SDI INPUTS or outputting to tape.
Just spoke to Elvin at Dreamtek who also thinks the problem lies in updating FCP5.0.1 to FCP 5.0.4 -
Do you have a blackburst generator? Sounds like a reference issue to me.

I don’t think it is, because I ran my MBE for many days without any genlock input and only realized it was an issue when outputting back to Digital Betacam (for monitoring)

I’m with Jeremy, has all the hallmarks of a reference issue – make sure your decks are locked to the input for layoff, ref out for digitising if you haven’t got a BB generator.

I’ve never seen a “no video input” problem here when genlock wasn’t on.
Sure the picture is not straight on and moves down every few seconds, but I never personally had an issue with “no video input” coming up.
Thats why I recommended what I did. 🙂

SDI is a different story as reference can be locked to the incoming video signal. Analog outs and ins (especially with the 1800 deck) are the most happy when being fed a BB signal.

It was just quick time update..Like on Avid, it plays major role in playback as well when converting/encoding files
When you update FCP, make sure you always make updates via “Software Update”..
But before anything, always check Blackmagic web site of courseElvin
