Avid equivalent to multibridge?
What is the Avid equivalent to the multibridge’s capabilities?
I have a beefy PC system w/ multibridge extreme and 1TB of RAID, but we need to turn it into an Avid edit machine.. Since we’re definitley editing with Avid software, and Avid can’t interface with or read anything from the decklink, I may sell it all to get the equivalent Avid hardware..

Adrenaline. A big In/Out box…. which, If I remember correctly, doesn’t even support embedded SDI audio. Seriously? And it’s probably upwards of $20,000 🙂

I think you meant “COSTS” since it’s certainly not worth it 🙂 Althought it does now support embedded SDI audio.

Well, it also ‘costs’ if no clients come to you since everyone else here is Avid.. They want their existing timelines and edits to seamlessly load up and pick up where they left off, or re-edit stuff done somewhere else.. They are all used to Avid, and think anything else isn’t as professional..
All the superior Betamax’s are nothing in a sea of VHSs..

You know, we converted to FCP from all Avid 2 years ago… and at first we got a lot of raised eyebrows. But we learned to approach the subject with the air of “oh, you’re still using Avid? Well yeah, we got rid of them years ago…. just got tired of jumping through their one-trick hoops. Final Cut is really evolving into such a more effective, powerful, and cost-effective solution… ” and then go on a tirade about the seamless workflow of an all Apple studio…. admit some of the shortcomings of FPC, but end it with “I wouldn’t go back. Editing in AVID is too pendantic for me now.” I’ve totally had some AVID diehards start acting like “oh, maybe i should learn some FCP just in case.” 🙂
