  Decklink Extreme vs Decklink Extreme PCI

  Will a Decklink card from my G4 work in a G5 Quad? I know there is an upgraded card for PCI Express, but if I can get away with my old Decklink Extreme card til I decide my next purchase, I will.

  So, will it work?>?

  no it will not work. The buss structure is physically different between the new G5’s and the old PCI-X computers. There is no trick – that is why everyone had to come out with PCI Express cards. This affected EVERY manufacturer of cards – blame Apple, not Blackmagic.

  Try to sell the old one on Ebay and at least you’ll recoop some of your investment.
