February 11, 2006 at 7:08 pmNot really – most days it doesn’t work. When it does work, it doesn’t seem to be repeatable. Could be something in the BMD drivers, but when the card reliably outputs audio for FCP and the general system, I find it hard to pin on them.
I’ve tried trashing the preferences for both FCP and Soundtrack, but again, nothing relable.
I recall seeing some notes on the next OSX update, and they talk about working on the reliability for multiple programs using core audio. Maybe this update will help us.
Good luck,
Bill

February 11, 2006 at 9:31 pmBill, was not aware of the possible update.
I wish I had known this before I bought in, as I really like soundtrack, and would have gone a different route.
I really do not like having to cross my fingers each time.
So, who is fault?
BM for not getting the drivers/design right, or Apple for poor implimation of core software?
Do other cards have these issues? Many thanks

February 12, 2006 at 11:34 pmI don’t know about the other cards.
I’d be interested in hearing what BM has to say about it. There might be something they could do.
BM Support?
Thanks,

February 13, 2006 at 3:46 amI haven’t tried with BM Extreme, but I’ve worked with ST in a BM HD+ and HDPro system. Not extensively though.
What I do know from experience is that apart from FCP that ‘grabs exclusive control’ of the BM card, other apps like ST are a bit polite. So if you have QT Player or iTunes or Safari or any app using QT running in the background, ST gets funky. Even if you have finder and have a preview of a sound clip open, it can be an issue.

February 13, 2006 at 11:32 amNo, nothing else running. Just Soundtrack. It is a real pain having the inconsistent behavior. Work flow just plummets.
Lets hope it is adressed soon !!!!!Thanks

February 15, 2006 at 4:34 amI haven’t had any problem with Soundtrack, although I would only have used it about 10 times. I only have Dual G5 2GHz (old type) machines. I wonder if it is a quad problem?

February 15, 2006 at 5:17 pmDo not know, but it seems the card grabs the audio irespective of settings, and not consistently.
Not a happy state to work in.Thanks
