  • Problems with Multibridge 5.2.3

Posted by Joao Velho on December 27, 2005 at 11:42 pm

After installing the Multibridge 5.2.3 software, I experimented inconsistent video input both on FCP and Decklink Control. The solution was to downgrade the firmware to the old 1.5.2 version.

    Multibridge HD
    Decklink HD – Version 5.2.4
    PM G5 dual 2GHz
    FCP 5.0.4

    Hi Joao,

Can you elaborate on the issue? What do you mean by “inconsistent”?

    regards

For sure, I mean that the video input signal is not constant. Flashing from time to time, both the deck Deck Control and the Log and Capture window show the Blackmagic’s “No Video Input” message. I hope BM can identify the problem!

    Thanks!

The Multibridge Mac 5.2.3 software is for the Multibridge Extreme and Studio only…. not for the old non-PCI-express multibridges.

This is not what Blackmagic says in their download page. It is there:

Multibridge 5.2.3 for Mac OS X
    16 December 2005
This software supports Multibridge Extreme on Mac OS X, and includes all drivers and a complete instruction manual. Because Multibridge Extreme is both a converter and capture playback device, this installer also includes support for all models of Multibridge, and all models of DeckLink cards, including the new DeckLink SP PCIe card.

I understand that all models of Multibridge includes the Multibridge HD.

    Hi Kristian,

I haven’t tested the mac version yet, but the 5.3 PC version for Multibridge forces any connected MultibridgeHD do a firmware update that leads to non-functional YUV HD inputs on the Multibridge. Switching back to 1.52 does indeed correct the problem, but how can you control a Multibridge Extreme AND a MultibridgeHD from a single computer then.

This is currently not consistent and I totally underline what Joao wrote. This must be fixed quickly, otherwise BMD will be swamped with tons of “defect MultibridgeHD’s” which have just the wrong firmware and not hardware defect… Ask Theo & Andrew McLeod, I gave them detailed report.
