    Hello,

We recently acquired a Digital Betacam (DVW-A500). We migrated from a Betacam SP (PVW 2800).

Before; the component signal from the Extreme was connected to the PVW-2800 and my ref monitor was connected in RGB from the converted SDI signal of the Extreme. Colors in the ref monitor looked right.

Now, the SDI signal of the Extreme is connected to the Digital Betacam and the ref monitor is connected directly to the component signal of the Extreme. Colors in the ref monitor look “yellowish” or with not enough red!? Something I hooked up wrong?

Also, when I review something printed to tape (digital Betacam), the image seems darker than the original. The ref monitor I’m reviewing in is connected directly to the deck (digi Beta) in composite. So i figure it is “normal” that the image looks a little off from the original, since i am looking at it from a lesser signal? Is the footage on the digital betacam identical to the on in my timeline?

    answers greatly appreciated!

    regards,

    Jeff

Hook the extreme SDI out to the Digibeta and monitor the component out of the digibeta. You can then A/B the tape against what was digitized simply by pressing the stop button on the digib (set it to e/e monitoring)

Check the TBC on your Digibeta is off.

    There should be no difference.
