  Multibridge + HDLink = Multibridge PCI Express ?

  I’m thinking about getting the multibridge for capturing into my DecklinkHD card..

  Question: is there any reason to wait for the Multibridge Express, or can i get the Multibridge + HDLink and basically do the same thing now?

  Also: can I use the multibridge+hdlink by itself on a film set for video assist (no decklinkHD computer)? I could use a notebook computer for a USB control for the multibridge so I could downconvert to a composite signal for recording (right?)..

  Is there simultaneous HD/SD output on the multibridge?

  If I have HD SDI 720p from a Panasonic Varicam into the multibridge, can I get HD SDI AND NTSC composite out? AND HD analog component out? This would be great for video assist which I do a lot of..

  Analog component in -> NTSC composite AND HD SDI (for capture) out?

  I’m researching the archives, but can’t get specific answers.. I’d like an all-in-to-all-out situation.. I have a Decklink HD I can hook up to it for digitizing, and a Dell 24″ LCD for a HD monitor..

  You can really go either way. The Multibridge Extreme has a built-in version of HDLink but will also support dual-link DVI-D displays, such as the Apple 30″ monitor, as well as normal DVI-D displays. HDLink supports DVI-D displays but not the large dual-link DVI-D displays. The Multibridge Extreme will also support 2K output via dual-link DVI-D but that might or might not be of interest to you.

  Given you already own a DeckLink HD card, the current Multibridge and HDLink will do what you need to do. You can use them in conjunction with your DeckLink HD card or else independantly without a DeckLink workstation. A notebook would be perfect for controlling the Multibridge and HDLink via USB. Please note that down conversion has not yet been added to Multibridge but we want to get back to that as soon as Multibridge Extreme has been released.

  Can I still do HD SDI to component conversion? If so, I could get a downconverter box like this and downconvert the analog HD signal for NTSC record/playback:

  Basically, my situation is this: if I’m in the studio, I’ll probably be just bringing in either analog component HD from a Z1 or HD SDI 720p from a Varicam or deck.. If I’m in the field doing video assist, I need to view the HD SDI signal live on a dell 24″ LCD monitor, plus be able to record a signal for playback using a DV clamshell.. In some rare situations I may take my system out and record HD live, and then I can just check playback from the DecklinkHD card..

  Off Topic: Anyone used these component-to-CAT5 converters to send component over a CAT5 cable?
