  AE preview not working in Windows

  Hi,

  I’ve been asked to re-post this…..so here it is – any suggestions gratefully received.

  “I’ve just installed a Decklink Pro which has been sitting on my shelf for years waiting my attention (I know…I know!). All seems fine but there is no AE preview. I’ve setup AE vid preview options, as instructed. The monitor flicks as I go to AE but no picture. when I hit RAM preview I get an error “unable to create quicktime image buffer – bad parameter (-50)”

  Any clues?….I have QT v6″

  And more info, as requested: I’m running: AE v5.5 on Win XP Pro with QT v6.5.2, Decklink driver v5.1.1.0 (NB, since posting previously I’ve updated QT to this version from 6 and reinstalled the Decklink driver)

  Still getting the error: “unable to create quicktime image buffer – bad parameter (-50)”

  Luke suggested quitting Premiere….I rarely use it so that’s not the problem.

  Hi Steve,

  Can you confirm that the error is limited to After Effects and that you can get video out of other QuickTime applications such as Blackmagic Deck Control or Combustion? Combustion would be a good test as it outputs RGB as does After Effects.

  Hi Luke,

  Thanks for the quick response. I don’t use Combustion mych (to my shame) not got round to really getting to grips with it! However, I know my way round it fairly well and yes! Framebuffer works in C* and yes BM playback is fine. Seems to be just AE.

  Hi Steve,

  I’ll forward your problem to the engineers and see if they can suggest the signifiance of the QuickTime error you have observed.
