we just finished online for a 2 hour concert dvd… all shot on super16 at 24fps, onlined at 30fps with letterbox. They just decided they want a 16×9 enhanced DVD. What’s the easiest path to get this resized to anamorphic? obviously the 3:2 changes from shot to shot…. would this be something for a tenerex or alchemist? A software encode on my G5 would probably take days.

    thanks!

[CharlieX] ” They just decided they want a 16×9 enhanced DVD”

so the next thing they should decide is to make new telecine in 16:9 anamorph.

bumping up your 4:3 footage to anamorph 16:9 doesnt enhance resolution and therefore
would just foolish the customers of the dvd.

I found out that if you take your 4:3 clips, copy and paste into a 16×9 anamorphic timeline, with Field settings on Lower, and scale everything to 133%, FCP will resize to anamorphic for you. But yeah, while organic surfaces look pretty decent, fine details are very aliased.

thanks for the reply. if they really want it, we have to get a telecine done.
