  • Opening .aec files

Whenever I create a .aec file in C4D and try and open it it always defaults to Apple’s Color to open it. I have done the old trick of selecting ‘always open with’ and selecting AE and it doesn’t seem to save those settings and the next time I try and open it defaults back to the Color suggestion.

In the Finder, Get Info (Cmd-I) on an .AEC file. There’s an “Open with” section of the information panel. Change the default application to After Effects, and then click the “Change all…” button.

Also, you should import AEC files into an already open project and not open them.

Strangely it was already set to AE as the default in the get info window so I just clicked on the drop down selection to see what else was in there I went out of that widow and tried opening the file again and it then defaulted to AE to open them files……….so it worked;-)

    Thanks
