  • no signal to broadcast monitor in FCP

I am trying to view some rendered animations in FCP.
This HAS worked in the past, but isn’t now. I was recently working in an HD project and am now doing an SD project……and I’m not sure what settings I’ve messed up.

In After Effects, I AM able to see my animation on the broadcast monitor during RAM preview playback….so I know the monitor is OK. I am also able to see it on the monitor in the Blackmagic Deck Control app.

    I’ve rendered out a Blackmagic 8 bit quicktime at 720 x 486 LFF.
In Final Cut, I selected “Blackmagic NTSC- 8bit” from the easy set-up menu.
My broadcast monitor is simply displaying my computer desktop…..indicating to me that it isn’t even TRYING to see a signal out of Final Cut.

My system preferences are set to Output: Analog Y, B-Y, R-Y
    Input: Digital SDI
    HDTV Up/Down Converter: OFF
Black Video Output to Deck in Capture: Disabled

    Any ideas??
The “easy-set-up” tools in Final Cut have served me well in the past. I’m not sure where the disconnect is occurring.

    Thanks

Why not try this and see if it works: VIEW – VIDEO MONITOR – Blackmagic NTSC 8-BIT

    Good luck,

I’m on FCP HD, version 4.5.
Under “View,” I don’t have a “Video Monitor” option. I DO have a “Video Playback” option and it is already set to Blackmagic NTSC 8-Bit.

And again….I see my computer desktop on the broadcast monitor. I don’t see black or a “no signal” sign or anythiing, so it seems like FCP isn’t even looking for the monitor.

I meant Video Playback, sorry… And have you clicked on REFRESH A/V DEVICES?

    Yes, I tried that also.
Since it’s worked in the past and it works in AE and Blackmagic Deck Control, I can’t understand what I’ve changed in FCP to make it not work now.

    thanks for your help
