  HDV to Sony LMD 232WS

  I have FCP 5 a 23 and 17inch apple displays. I just bought a Sony LMD 232WS to use as a broadcast monitor for my HDV setup. After setting everything up I see that FCP5 does not support video preview via firewire to the external monitor like it does with DV. So with a Deckline card I will be able to use my external monitor in Native HDV for coloring? Is there really an advantage to using a LMD 232WS over any other HDTV?

  Hi Chris,

  Yes you can use the DeckLink card for previewing HDV material captured via Firewire. Please see the technical note HDV capture preview missing in Final Cut Pro HD 5.0 for details of how to make this work.
