I’m using the HD Pro card with Panasonic 150 DVC Pro HD decks and sound cuts in and out going HD SDI from DL HD Pro (w/ FCP 4.5 or 5.02) to the deck. If I use AES it works fine using the SPDIF out of the BM card to AES in on the deck but then I can only use 2 channels. I was given a replacement card from BM at one point but it did the same thing. Anyone out there use these 2 together?

    Hi Robert,

Are you using Mac OS X 10.3.9? If so, we’ve heard of various audio dropout issues with this system and I would recommend you use the combination of either:

  • Mac OS X 10.3.8, QT 6.5.2, FCP 4.5 with DeckLink 4.8 drivers or
  • Mac OS X 10.4.2, QT 7.0.1, FCP 5.0.2 with DeckLink 5.0 drivers
  • Ensure you are using the Blackmagic easy setups in FCP rather than manually selecting settings.

It would also be a good idea to quit from FCP and try using Blackmagic Deck Control to output to tape and then see if the audio keeps dropping out.

If you are connecting directly to the deck and are not using trisync, ensure you have set the Black video output to deck in capture setting to On Digital SDI Out. Also ensure your deck is set to use internal or auto reference if you are using this setting. Alternatively set the reference setting to external or auto, if you are using trisync, and make sure the trisync signal matches the format of the video your are using.
