  • HD 1080i 25 Hz automatic down-conversion, bug?

    Hi,
my setup: G5, HD Pro dual link, HDLink, OSX 4.1, fcp 4.5, BM 4.8

The problem: I captured from HDCAM deck 25p footage. Works well in the timeline,
all set to HD 1080i 25 Hz. On the 23″ screen (set to 25 Hz), using HDLink, the footage is
unfortunately projected only in SD. If I swich the timeline-settings to HD 1080i 24 Hz
the footage on the 23″ display is full HD-resolution. Logically camerapans show a frequent hickup
due to the 24 fps, remember display is set to 25Hz.
Does anybody know why the projection of HD 1080i 25 Hz is automatically downconverted to SD
and not showing proper HD resolution although footage is shot in 25 Hz?
And why does it work with HD 1080i 24 Hz?
    Any idea may help.

thank you very much in advance,

    Hans v. Sonntag

In the system prefrences under the Decklink tab, there is a down conversion setting…. make sure it’s set to off.

    More precise.
Go into the Decklink HD Pro Settings. On the right side of the window check if HDTV Downconverter is set to “OFF”.

Thank you very much for your help!
Got things sorted out and finally installed FCP 5.0.
    All works fine now. Great!
