Mixing 8 and 10-bit uncompressed on the timeline certainly works. It is also possible to mix other formats on the same timeline but this is dependant upon on the speed of your Mac. The faster your Mac, the more options will be available. There have been some previous discussions in this forum about successfully mixing compressed formats on the same timeline but those DeckLink users were experimenting on G5’s. The only way to know what works is to run some tests on your own setup and find what works and what doesn’t. My guess is that you won’t succeed with alternative formats on your dual G4/800 but it doesn’t hurt to try.
BTW, how is FCP5 and DeckLink going on your dual G4/800? That model of machine is below what we now recommend for FCP5 so I’d be interested to know how it is going?

DL Extreme works fine in a dual G4 800.
i don t kwon how it works on a g5
but with my conf. (dual g4 800 1 ghz ram raid ultra ata with accord card
and 2 segate) i can play RT 2 stream of uncompressed 8bit video with some motion effect tap (e.g scale position but not rotation) plus all rt effect from DL Extreme (dissolve 3 way etc.)
