  What’s Decklink DV’s purpose?

  I mostly edit DV footage so after I got my Decklink Extreme I put external video on Decklink DV … only to find out playback wasn’t really working to well (all I got was still frames). So I put it on Decklink 8bit NTSC (which has a different resolution than DV) and everything worked fine. I am not complaining and perfectly happy with Decklink playback but I wonder … what is the purpose of the Decklink DV setting?

  The DV out is for older apps like FCP3
  RT Extreme changed the way FCP works.
