Colour Correction
Hey guys just a simple question really. I was wondering whether or not when colour correcting footage, you should correct the individual raw clips or edit the composition together then correct the entire piece at once?

Edit and then color correct. It’s less work and easier to match the shots.

Agreed. It’s also far easier to use color to adjust the mood or feel of the shot in context.

Another reason for color-correcting/grading last is that you preserve more color information for various compositing tools to operate on. Such tools as Roto Brush, Warp Stabilizer, Timewarp, and motion trackers rely on information about similarities and differences in color and brightness—and color correction and grading can throw these values off in a way that muddies the information for such tools.

I always color correct the shots first to get use to my great colors during the edit stage . Also I use the flat pass for the special effects to match them back in later.
