  • Removing white background from footage

Posted by Dave Frith on June 21, 2011 at 2:06 pm

    Hi All,

I have a Quicktime mov file, which is black and white.
The people are silhouettes in black and the background is white.

I am trying to remove the white background, so the background is transparent so I can place the people silhouettes ontop of other footage.

I have tried using transfer/blending mode to screen / multiply but no luck.

Any help or suggestion would be greatly welcomed.

    Thanks

    Dave

If the footage is indeed only black and white you could use a linear color key to key out the white background and a matte choker to clean it up.

If you need more control you could use Keylight to remove the background.

    Thanks for the replies.

I used the keylight and it worked great.

    Thanks for the help.
