after effects RAM
Posted by Micah Etheredge on July 28, 2005 at 1:57 pmhow much ram in a dual 1.8 G5 is recommended to run after effects effectively? currently have 1.5Gb, looking up that to 3Gb. is that sufficient?

July 28, 2005 at 2:16 pmCurrently, AE will only use a maximum of 2GB of RAM. However, add the RAM used by the OS and any other apps you’ll have open at the same time, and at least 3GB sounds good to me.
If you want to use Apple’s Motion app however, the sky’s the limit. Max out your system if you want to do that.

July 29, 2005 at 12:34 pmI’m not a programmer, but it relates to the 32-bit operating system. For more RAM to be used, you need a 64-bit Operating System and software re-coded to make use of the 64-bit OS.
It’ll happen eventually. Apple’s Motion uses more RAM right now, in fact.
