  • Font not recognized in After Effects CS5

Posted by Tim Cavins on May 9, 2011 at 2:04 pm

I upgraded from CS3 to CS5 and a custom font that works in CS3 does not appear in After Effects CS5 or Photoshop CS5 on my Macbook Pro. However, it appears fine on a Mac Pro using CS5.

Anyone have an idea of what I can try to get After Effects to recognize this font?

    Thanks,

    Tim

i’m not sure that this is the problem, but with the osx 10.6.7 update there was font issue with some opentype fonts and apple released this patch a few weeks ago:

    Kevin,

Thanks for the info about the patch. However, that did not help my issue.

I’m assuming that you’ve installed the font using Font Book.

    Here are 2 possible issues:

You may want to Validate the Font, select the font in Font Book and choose File > Validate Font.

If that doesn’t work, it may be due to font duplication, from the Edit menu choose Resolve Duplicates.

I’ve tried to validate the font through Validate File and it validates fine.

The font does not show up in Font Book on my Mac Pro running 10.5.8 but the font works in CS5 as its in the Library/Fonts folder.

The font doesn’t show up on the Mac Book Pro running 10.6.7. It validates fine but does not work in CS5. The font is also placed in the Library/Fonts folder on the Mac Book.

We’ve fixed all duplicate font issues as well.

    Any other suggestions out there?

    Issue solved.

I placed a copy in Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fonts and CS5 now picks it up.
