When I play a video in After Effects with audio, the audio plays for a few frames and then begins to loop without end. The only way to get the sound to stop is to quit AE. Has this happen to anyone else? What should I do.

The way you describe the issue sounds strange, but some things to check …

Do you have the Preferences set to only play a few seconds of audio?

Do you have the loop button on in the playback controls?

Are you using the spacebar to “play”? If so, RAM preview instead.

Are you using mp3 files? If so, transcode them to wav or aif.

I checked those things, and it’s still happening. I’m running a Mac with IO HD, so I’m thinking maybe some of those settings got corrupted.

I think this all started when I was typing something in Spanish using the tilde and punctuation for spanish. I probably reset something in the program.

Although…it happens to me sometimes in FCP as well, but I’m able to make it stop.
