    Hi,

I have shot (still image) of two cupped hands. Similar like this one here: https://www.deviantart.com/download/79527862/Hands_by_rE_Fuuused.jpg

Now at first I want to fill those hands with water so that it looks like the hands are holding or carrying water. Not sure if this can be done in after effects or I have to do this in in photoshop and animate it later?!? Anyone know how this can be done? I am really stuck here…

Secondly, in the water in the hands I want to see a different image. I guess I can do this with displacement maps or caustics effect, right?

    Thanks in advance…
    Tom

It’s mostly about reflection and refraction how believable it would be.

Image you provided is too sketchy and contrasted, without color.
It would be the best if you could take shot of live water (someone pour it on hands) and then overlay your footage over the water, adding some waves and distortions in post.

However, if photo is your only option, try to play with some roto masks on solids following lines on palms and use them as track mates (dont forget to ad some reflections too).

    Hello Mato,

thank you very much for your ideas and your example.

Now, I have some good starting points and a script I can play with 😉

    Cheers again,

    Tom
