Activity Forums Adobe After Effects “Cannot Parse File” Error, opening .kmz/.dae file into PS CS5

Usually that “cannot parse the file” error is due to an incompatible format, not a lack of system resources. I would check if that 3D file format is supported in your version of Photoshop. And you may also have better luck in the Photoshop forum.

.KMZ / .DAE are compatible 3D formats for Photoshop CS5 Extended, confirmed.
    Any other ideas?

NEVERMIND. It’s because Photoshop can’t parse the file if there are components or grouped objects in the file itself. Which there were. I had a few objects in Sketchup grouped (whether it be grouping, or creating components), and when I right-clicked them and ungrouped or “exploded” and then exported as a .kmz file, Photoshop read it correctly. Problem solved.

Good to know. Thanks for posting the solution. It will probably save someone else a lot of headaches down the road.
