  Illustrator paths to AE but still edittable

  I want to bring in a Illustrator logo, But still keep the path info so I can apply trapcode 3d stroke to it to create like a cutout effect. But when I bring and AI path in it comes in as a mask. Is it possible to keep the path info?

  set your mask to None, and apply the trapcode to the mask. The mask is still editable.
