  Making letters attract to a moving word

  Hello

  I am pretty new to AE so not sure how difficult this may be….. 🙂
  I am trying to make a text animation where a word moves across the screen, and as it passes nearby the letters they are attracted to it and then follow it’s path. As if the word was a magnet and the letters iron filings. See very basic sketch below.

  

  There will be many more floating letters than this so I’d like to automate it rather than animate them on a path one by one! Is there a way I can do it through parenting?

  Here’s a very general answer:

  Any time you’re thinking of how to make things come together, consider how easy it is to make things fly apart from a common center—and then time-reverse that.
