  • QuickLook MXF files from Canon C300?

When I started at my current job I could press space bar on my Mac to do a Quicklook of an MXF file from our Canon C300. About a month ago I wiped the computer clean and even after installing Final Cut and ProVideoFormats I have lost that ability. I can still double click a video and it plays in Quicktime but it was much more efficient to use quick look. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Quicklooks are an extensible framework that allow you to add new preview capabilities to your Mac. I’m guessing that at one point you installed Canon’s free XF Utility 3.2 for Mac OS X and it installed the appropriate Quicklooks extensions. I believe you can find a link to it (along with other valuable Quicklooks extensions) at QuicklookPlugins.com. I have several 3rd party Quicklooks extensions installed that I couldn’t live without.

no, apple changed to AVfoundation als the new multimedia heart and this is a closed system, you cannot add codecs to that. however, make sure you have the latest version of “pro formats”, this will enable most formats system-wide. this is old news though.
