    i’ve ejected it everytime, but upon reboot there it sits, and then also launches.

    on get info, next to disk image it says “/private/tmp/tmpinstallmc.dmg”. any ideas?

    It sounds like you have picked up a nasty AdWare program called Genieo and need to download and run AdwareMedic. I just cleaned up a friends Mac with this. It works really well. This is not antivirus, it’s anti-adware. You may need anti-virus as well. Sophos has a free version that works well.

    If you don’t use the Web Of Trust add-on for Safari I highly recommend it. It will rate all of the links on Google searches and warn you of dangerous ones. It does this if you type the web URL as well so if something redirects you to a bad web site it will bock it and warn you. You can’t be too careful.
