I have a Mac Pro that starts to be slow, playback in FCP is out of sync, FCP sometimes crashes, etc.

It’s been years since we re-installed the machine.

I figure it would be a good thing to do.

But, should I simply erase the System disk, and simply do a restore from my Time Machine (apps, documents, settings, etc)?

Or should I erase the System disk, install 10.6 (and update to 10.6.8) and manually restore apps and documents?

I would prefer using the Migration assistant, but would I perhaps transfer any “issues” in this processs, causing my Mac Pro behave like it does now?

I would give disk warrior a try and I would clone the system drive before attempting anything.
