My Mac Pro system drive is dual boot, 10.7 and 10.8. Until earlier today each partition occupied 500gb of a 1tb drive.

I work in 10.7…the 10.8 is for “future use”.

Today using Disk Utility, I reduced the size of the 10.8 partition to 250gb, planning to expand the 10.7 partition by the same amount.

However I find while I can reduce the size of either partition, or re-expand one I reduced, I cannot expand the 10.7 partiion into the space freed up by reducing the 10.8 partition.

I have tried booting to both OS’s but the same limitations apply.

I am wondering, if I break out my old 10.6.8 drive and boot from it, and put the current drive in a USB cradle, will I then be able to expand the 10.7 partition since I wont be using it as a boot drive at all?

Or would something like Drive Genius or iPartition do what I need? How?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
