  No drives will mount on my mac!

  Hi there —

  I’m running Mac OS X 10.5.8. All of a sudden it won’t mount any external drives. I’ve tried several drives that work on other computers. I’ve tried different cables and different ports. Nothing seems to work.

  Has anyone encountered this? Insights desperately needed.

  This is probably not it but do you have “External disks” checked in the finder preferences?

  Yes, external disks is checked. Kind of a head scratcher.
