  networking in order to use CD drive

  My CD drive to my laptop is broken and thanks to some help given to me on here, I’ve managed to get Final Cut onto it by using my desktop to create a new image from the FCP disk.

  My problem is I want to put LiveType on there, but the various compatible drives I’ve got won’t accept a new image being burned on them as they are FAT32 formatted or too small.

  I just wanted to find out if 1. I can connect my laptop and my desktop together via ehtenet cable and 2. Once I do connect how do I get the desktop cd drive to talk to the laptop?

  My desktop OS X is 10.5.7 and the laptop 10.5.8

  I think, think, that it might be in 10.5 – go to the sharing preference pane. If you see DVD sharing, you’re good to go. Then you just put them on the same network (Ethernet is faster than wifi)
