Adding Metadata for footage searching?
I’m trying to structure a video archive — approximately 8 terabytes with countless projects, each with hundreds of clips and video files. I’m trying to standardize the folder naming conventions but I’m leery of changing any file names — they won’t link to their Final Cut projects if I change their names. So I’m hoping to add some metadata, allowing me to search.
Shouldn’t this be easier than hitting Apple-I and inserting data into the relevant fields? I can’t do this 10,000 times. Aperture and other photo aps allow selecting any number of files and automatically adding a keyword or other info — does anyone know of software that would allow me to do the same thing to my video files? I’d love to label the 250 files in a media managed folder with the location, shoot date and name of the client, which would make it very easy to find them with a search — but I’m not about to do each file one at a time!
Anyone?
