  OS X wont Load

  something has happened to my macbook pro Os x tiger 10.4 operating system it wont load stays at the grey window , would like to put on leopard instead now how can I do that I know about the boot 132 loader but am having trouble trying to figure out how to burn it to disk and the tiger disk i have is broken.My friends mac died and hes willing to give me his leopard disk How can I install mac os x
  do I need to format or does boot 132 enable Os x (Leopard) to install over top of Tiger .Please can someone help me
