  networking MAC computers

  I understand that some how 2 MAC computers with OSX and Final Cut Pro 6.0 can network from
  one to another (in different geographic regions), whereas the timeline and interface of one FCP
  project can be worked on by another MAC computer thousands of miles away.
  How is this done?
