    whenever i click on a .m2v file, Finder tries to render a preview video in the preview pane. to do this, it hangs the entire system for up to a few minutes (in the case of a .m2v for Blu-Ray). i don’t want Finder to preview videos in the preview window. but it seems like the only option is to shut off the preview pane, that i otherwise find very valuable. is there a way around this?

    This is a common issue with QuickTime, and applications that use it like the Finder. The finder will hang for most mpeg2 formats. Snow Leopard with QT X should fix this.

    Show the file as icon, not list or column.
